A Tale of Love, Passion and Gelato
The Giacopazzi family has been making gelato in Eyemouth since the early 1900s, when Lorenzo Giacopazzi left his home in Borgo Val Di Taro (Northern Italy) to seek his fortune in America.
On landing in Scotland, he decided to make his home here instead and set up in business doing what he knew best – making gelato. Fish & chips were a natural addition to the business and so Giacopazzi's has become famous for both over the years. For generations the Giacopazzi family has continued in Lorenzo's footsteps and current owners and gelato masters Peter (4th generation) and his nephew Somers continue to make their family's gelato with the same love and passion that Lorenzo first brought to his craft.
The parlour was created in 2022 to give Giacopazzi's gelato its own bespoke space right next door to the original premises on Harbour Road where you can still enjoy your fish & chips. Whilst many people do visit to enjoy both, the new separate locations have resulted in an enhanced visitor experience and more choice.
